18 and up welcome

There’s a Class 4U

Welcome to Four Day Weekend’s 4U, a new and improved way to learn the art of improvisation. Even if you are a beginner or a seasoned performer, 4U has a class for you!

All of our beginner classes are Flexible, Focused, and FREE!

  • Please be aware that some classes may be cancelled last minute due to low signups or if the theater gets booked for a Private Event.

  • Since the classes are FREE, they are susceptible to being bumped for paid events or low reservations. All of our teachers are paid, so we don’t want to take advantage of our owners generosity by teaching classes to just a few students. Most classes will need 8-10 reservations before that class can move forward to being taught. Thank you for your understanding.

  • There is FREE parking in Ft. Worth on Third St. between Throckmorton and Taylor. The parking garage entrance is across from the aLoft Hotel and on the same side of the street behind P.F. Changs. It’s free on the weekends and after 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.

New to Improv? Start here! These beginner classes are FREE!

If you are new to improvisation, we ask that you take the one-day “FUNdamentals” class first, then the one-day “FUN Improv Games” class next. We also recommend that beginners take each of these classes more than once to help build the basics of “Yes, And” before moving on to more advanced classes.

FUNdamentals - New Students/Beginners Step 1

Unlock a life-changing skill. This class will give you the foundation you need to begin your improv journey with Four Day Weekend. This ONE-DAY class introduces you to the “Yes, And” philosophy and the basic tools needed to perform improvisation.

FUN Improv Games - New Students/Beginners Step 2

Learn to use the tools learned in “FUNdamentals” and apply them to simple fun Improv Games, like “What are you Doing?”, “One Word Story”, “Talk Show”, “Conducted Story”, and many more. This class will help bridge the gap from fun quick response games to more detailed scene work that is necessary for more advanced forms. After you feel comfortable with everything this class has to offer, you are more than welcome to choose any of the offerings listed below in any order you wish.

Characters

This class will help you transform into a new person. Building on your fundamentals, this class uses improvised monologues and scenes to help you create authentic characters from the ground up.

Musical Improv

Create songs in the moment. Learn the tricks of the trade including setups, hooks, and not painting yourself into a rhyme corner.

Advanced Classes

Below are the more advanced class offerings. All of these will require payment. The cost of each class varies. Check the listing for more details.

NOTE: The following courses aren’t offered every month, so check the schedule regularly for the latest class additions.

Team Showcase (6 week program prepping for a live performance at one of our theaters. 10-12 spots available) $180

This class will meet once a week for six weeks to prep for a live performance showcase at one of our theaters on a Sunday night (Time and Date TBD). Please check the schedule to see when the next Team Showcase classes are offered. EVERYONE (all experience levels) is welcome to be on a Team, and once there are at least 10 signups, we will move forward with the class. Every student is required to attend 4 of the 6 classes to be in the Showcase performance. The Showcase Performance is FREE to the public.

Game/Motivation (4-week course. The WHY of a scene.) $100

This four-week intensive course focuses on the invisible element that motivates the characters and the glue that holds random elements of the scene together. It’s typically the first unusual thing that happens in the scene that can become the springboard for “If this is true, what else is true?”

Long Form (Expert Level. Invitation Only. Ongoing.) $100 per month

This ongoing Expert level class focuses exclusively on long-form improvisation. These forms will allow you to do an entire show built around one simple suggestion. In this class, we will work on the “Montage”, “Deconstruction”, “Armando”, “Weir-Das”, “LeRonde”, “Harold,” and many more. You will need an instructor's recommendation to take this course.
